Wildfire Update from BC Wildfire
Attached is the latest information about the Little Fort Complex wildfires–including the Dunn Lake wildfire and the Thuya Lake Road wildfire.
We are working on new maps for today. Once they are ready, they will be posted on the BC Wildfire website.
Total resources: over 240 personnel, 12 helicopters, 21 pieces of heavy equipment, structural protection units and airtankers, as needed. BC Wildfire Service and the Parks Canada Incident Management Team are working closely with local fire departments, RCMP and local governments to ensure public safety and coordinated fire suppression efforts.
DUNN LAKE FIRE (K20706)
Fire Size: 3,040 hectares (estimated)
Status: Out of Control, 30% contained
Progress + Objectives: Cooler temperatures yesterday allowed crews to make progress along the head of the fire on the north end. Today crews will work to action hot spots and increase containment on the south and north flanks.
THUYA LAKE ROAD FIRE (K20675)
Fire Size: 565 hectares (increase in size due to better mapping)
Status: Out of Control; 50 % contained
Progress + Objectives: This fire has not grown significantly and fire crews continue to make excellent progress on control lines. Top priorities are to limit fire spread toward highways and the transmission line.
Evacuations/Area Restriction Order: An area restriction is now in effect for areas around both fires, in the interest of public and crew safety. Expanded evacuation alerts and orders have been issued. Please contact the District of Clearwater/ TNRD for more information.
